Eating with your finger, relish on your chin, salty chips pinched from your dining partner’s plate…. Burger night is a family-friendly way to gather with chums. Here how to do it in style and do it right with The Ultimate Burger Night Guide!

Choose Your Weapon of Burger Choice

Prendergast Butchers offer both steak and lamb burgers which are made with quality Pembrokeshire Beef and Lamb. We use only the finest meat to produce mouth wateringly tasty burgers which are ideal for pan frying or grill, or if youre really lucky charring on the BBQ. We love brushing our burgers with a mix of mustard and Tabasco Chipotle sauce as they cook as this builds up a fantastic layer of spicy seasoning.

Add a Burger ‘BUNION’

A top dressing for a burger at the moment is a bunion…. Strange sounding we know but this new take on bacon and onions is really fantastic! A streaky bacon-wrapped onion ring ticks all the boxes when it comes to the ideal burger topping and can easily be made by wrapping streaky bacon around the core of a large white onion and grilling or pan frying. For added flavour try this with our smoked streaky bacon.

Feeling Cheesy?….

One way to make sure you’re treating a burger right is to top it with really great cheese. But which one? Our steak burgers are great with a crumbling of mature blue stilton or why not give it a kick with mexican pepper cheese. Our lamb burgers are full of minty flavour and go great with a simple mild cheddar. Or for a hint of the mediterranean try adding goats cheese and placing back under the grill.

Great Buns….

The ideal soft burger bun should be pillowy, squishy, and tender, with a tight but soft crumb and a distinct sweetness. It should hold up nicely to the burger’s juices, but should never be tough. A Brioche Bun is a great all rounder and the slight sweetness adds a depth of flavour to the whole meal.

A Chip off the Old Block….

Chips are the perfect side to so many dishes and you don’t need to reach for the frozen bag. Baked or fried, these homemade chips beat shop-bought hands down – and they’re so easy to make! All you need is some potatoes, some oil and a sharp knife. You can make them as thick or as thin as you like – or you could even make them extra chunky and turn them into potato wedges. Try seasoning with sea salt and fresh ground pepper before cooking or even a sprinkle of paprika or cajun seasoning. We have the perfect chip recipe here Rustic Burger Chips

Get a Little Saucy on the side….

The perfect sauce will make or break your burger We think we’ve found the perfect sauce accompaniment. Try the recipe here: Killer Burger Sauce
