Turkey mince is a great way to make an alternative version of meatballs that’s just as tasty! We also love this recipe because it uses a slow cooker. Just do your prep then go about your day and come home to a wonderful meal.

Prep Time30 minsCook Time5 hrsTotal Time5 hrs 30 mins

 2 Carrots, finely diced
 2 Celery sticks, finely diced
 2 Garlic cloves, thinly sliced.
500 g Carton tomato passata - you could also use fresh tomatoes, use the same weight, and add a splash of water.
 2 tbsp Chopped parsley
 400 g Lean minced turkey
 4 tbsp Porridge oats

1

Heat the slow cooker to low.

2

Heat up the oil in a non-stick frying pan, and add in the onions, carrots, celery, and garlic. Fry until the onions soften.

3

Pour in the passata and parsley, and stir to combine. Add the sauce to the slow cooker, making sure that it’s on a low heat setting.

4

Tip the minced turkey into a large bowl, and add in the oats, paprika, garlic, and plenty of black pepper and mix everything together with your hands - be careful not to overmix, or the meatballs may not hold together well after assembly

5

Divide the mixture into twenty lumps roughly the size of a walnut, and roll them into meatballs.

6

Spray a non-stick pan with a little cooking spray, and gently cook the meatballs until they begin to brown. Once they’re nicely browned, add them to the tomato base in the slow cooker, and cook everything on low for five hours.
